LISTEN out for the talented young voices of Stagecoach Theatre School on Granada Television's My Favourite Hymns between now and Christmas.
Broadcast at 11am on Sunday mornings, the show invites celebrities including Falklands War veteran Simon Weston and Starsky and Hutch actor David Soul to select their favourite hymns from those recorded by choirs across the country.
The Stagecoach choir was invited to sing four traditional Christian songs at Lancaster Cathedral - Away in a Manger, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Oh Jesus I Have Promised and The Lord is My Shepherd.
"It went really, really well," said Stagecoach principal Ann-Marie Coulston.
"We were very surprised because we thought maybe the cathedral would be full of lots of other choirs, but we were the only ones there, and had this whole TV crew and cameras and the whole cathedral to ourselves, so the students felt really privileged."
Twelve singers aged nine to 17 from Kendal, Lancaster, the Lakes and Barrow took part in the performance.
"They were really nervous at first because it was very daunting, really - however, they soon relaxed," said Ann-Marie.
The cathedral has fantastic acoustics, she explained, and the children sounded 'fabulous'.
"Just to have us as the only choir performing there was an experience I don't think any of us will forget."
