THE girls' junior orienteering team from Ulverston competing in the World Orienteering Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, was in third place at the end of the second day's racing.
The five girls from Ulverston Victoria High School, aged 14 and 15 years old, were trailing behind Latvia and Estonia on Sunday with five days' racing to go.
Pupil Sarah Browne, who represented Britain in the senior girls' select competition, finished tenth, and her national team was second.
Matthew Rooke, who represented England in the national junior select boys' team finished 13th and 16th individually with his national team finishing in fourth place.
The school team returns this weekend.
