KENDAL Liberal Club has applied to South Lakeland District Council for permission to put a glass roof over its yard on Stricklandgate and provide access to the proposed Booths supermarket.
Coun John Studholme said the club had been in talks with Booths about providing access to the supermarket which is planned for land on The Westmorland Gazette site.
Last year improvements were made to lighting and access to the yard between the Liberal Club and Dickie Doodles wine bar.
If permission is granted, the yard will be covered with a glass ceiling and a walk-way provided to the supermarket.
Unless there is public opposition the matter is likely to be decided by council officers under delegated powers rather than by SLDC's planning committee.
