HARD-WORKING employees are taking a well-earned break while their managers go back to basics and take to the shop floor.
Staff at Ambleside's Lakeland store, at Market Cross, won a day-off after coming up trumps in an internal competition between the branches in which they beat a series of sales and service-related targets.
A mystery shopper had also checked out their people skills, but could not find fault.
Shop director Sue Hext explained that the team's winning efforts were being rewarded with a day out of their choice tied in with an overnight stay, while a head office team managed the store.
The 11 part and full-time employees have chosen to tour the sites of Chester on Saturday, April 27, while the company's managers - including the buyers for leather wear, men and women's wear - will be manning the counter and shop floor.
"Ambleside was the out right winner of 15 stores," said Ms Hext.
She added: "The girls are delighted they have the day off.
It is good for them to get together from time to time and it will be good experience to us to hear what customers have to say."
