A WEBSITE quiz set up by students in Barrow to revitalise tourism in the area has received more than 250 hits.
The competition was set up by students on the travel and tourism course at Furness College as part of their course.
The students came up with the idea in a bid to promote tourism in the Lake District following the devastating effects of foot-and-mouth last year.
The site was launched in October last year and it received more than 250 hits from all over the UK within four months.
The prizes, donated by companies in the area, have now been awarded to 17 people who managed to answer all the questions about the area on the website correctly.
They ranged from two-night bed and breakfast stays in the Lake District to trips around the Lakes and on Windermere.
Many of the winners came from the local area but some came from as far as Canterbury, Cambridge, London and Newcastle.
College principal, Val Bailey, is amazed by the hard work and enthusiasm that the students showed during the project.
She said: "We are all very proud of their efforts.
They have been excellent ambassadors for the college."
