VOTERS are being urged to turn out for next Thursday's (May 2) district and parish council elections and elect the candidates of their choice.
Liberal Democrat group leader Coun Gill Cranwell said France had provided a lesson in the dangers of failing to vote after a low turnout ensured progress for far Right candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen.
For South Lakeland District Council, 18 wards are up for re-election at Kendal, Ambleside, Sedbergh, Arnside and Beetham plus parish council elections in Kendal.
Elections are also being held in Bentham for Craven District Council and at Dalton for Barrow Borough Council.
