A final score of Ossett Town 1, Kendal Town 0 resulted in relegation for Kendal.
SOME 15 years ago Kendal Town, then known as Netherfield, was among the founders of the UniBond League First Division, but on Saturday they finally surrendered that status with a 1-0 defeat Ossett Town.
Ossett needed the points to hold on to second promotion place, but Kendal held out gamely until just five minutes from the end when Featherstone struck the only goal of the game.
Had Kendal won it would not have helped as the only other relegation candidates, Farsley Celtic, beat Matlock Town 3-0 to put them beyond reach.
The results means that town will next season play in the North West Counties League.
