A TRAIN operator is considering installing surveillance cameras at Kendal Station to tackle a growing problem with graffiti-vandals.
Simon Ashworth, customer services manager for Lancashire and Cumbria, said First North Western was now assessing the relative costs of CCTV against their cleaning bills because vandalism had become a recurring issue at the town-centre station.
"The shelter gets vandalised on a regular basis with graffiti.
We have had to step up the cleaning from once to twice a week."
He expected the company to make a decision on whether or not it would opt for a surveillance system in a matter of months.
L Strike action planned for April 22, 29 and May 6 by train union ASLEF was called off after it reached an agreement with First North Western.
The union will now discuss the agreement at a meeting next week.
An ASLEF spokesperson said.
"I don't think there will be any more strikes, I don't see any problem unless in the course of implementing the agreement something comes up."
