THE mayor of Ulverston, who is due to hand over her chains later this month, described her year in office as being one of the best times of her life.
At the annual meeting of Ulverston Town Council, mayor Coun Margaret Hornby praised many local organisations and those responsible for the many festivals in the town.
She said she had had a wonderful year and had been invited to many enjoyable events.
"I have been to many concerts, plays and other events at the Coronation Hall here in Ulverston and I think many people should be up for Oscars.
The last year has been one of the best times of my life and I would like to think everybody for electing me and supporting me," she said.
Coun Hornby will hand over her chains to deputy mayor Coun Dave Miller on Monday, May 13.
It will be the third time Coun Miller has been the mayor of Ulverston.
