LIVE music was well and truly back in action at The Cavendish, Dalton-in-Furness, when the two-day music festival Cavstock: Return To Rock got under way.

The event, which featured bands such as Rusty Gate, The Scales, Watersound, The Prophets and Degrassi inspired the following review from Cavendish Arms bar man Martin Smith.

"Cavstock opened with an impressive set of indie/rock covers from newly formed band Carpathia were followed by Son of Kong.

Cav veterans 12ft Machete headlined, playing a short but explosive set, enough to give the regular moshers their daily dose of exercise.

Saturday saw action in the main bar, with original acoustic sets from Matt Kassell and his songwriters group, while Retro put his keyboard skills into play, mixing classic tunes with dance styled originals to show off some impressive playing.

The evening saw young punksters Five Tipped Leaf, their months of work now making them a must see band, next up were indie rockers Chairman Wow and Kairoscuro.

Powerful vocals, enduring solos, original songs and a cover of Purple Haze to die for proved that this relatively new band were one to watch...A marvellous weekend with many witnessing that at The Cav, rock has well and truly returned."

E-mail gig reviews are always welcome.
