KIRKBY Lonsdale RUFC celebrate their 125th anniversary with a dinner tonight (Friday) at which RFU president Derek Morgan is the special guest.

Kirkby's First XV are in a stage of transition in North Lancs/Cumbria League after losing several players and a depleted squad went down 48-10 at newly-promoted Fleetwood on Saturday.

Dogged defending kept Fleetwood at bay until Godfrey opened the scoring with a penalty kick after 25 minutes.

Kirkby found a marauding back row a handful because of their clever angled running and Stephenson ran in the first of his four tries.

Two more tries followed before half-time as Kirkby faced a 24-0 deficit at half time with the match already looking beyond them.

Another try came straight after the break but Kirkby began to use the wind advantage and were rewarded with two unconverted tries from A.

Chapman and T.

Anderson as they at last penetrated a solid defence.

Changes to the home pack brought fresh weight and strength to cope with but Kirkby did not concede another score until injury time when Wilkinson scored and then Stephenson left the defence flat-footed from a quickly-taken penalty.

n Kirkby Seconds lost 46-12 to Fleetwood seconds.
