PEOPLE are being offered the opportunity to get a free blood pressure check at a Kendal supermarket as part of a campaign to reduce the number of deaths from stroke and heart disease.

Each year more than 50,000 deaths from stroke and 100,000 deaths from heart disease are caused by high blood pressure.

As part of the second national blood pressure testing week, a station offering free checks will be open at the Asda Pharmacy, on Burton Road, from Monday, September 16, to Friday, September 20, from 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm.

For information about other stations, log onto www.bpassoc.org.uk or call 020-8772-4994.
