GRANGE-OVER-SANDS councillors are to meet South Lakeland District Council's Environment and Housing officer in a bid to stave off the possible closure of two more of the town's public toilets.
The toilets - at Berner's Close, and near the children's play area on the promenade - are listed in the district council's 'phase two', to be considered in November.
But at their meeting on Monday, Grange councillors were sceptical about the offer of a meeting with SLDC's Environment and Housing officer Sue Barton.
Coun Bill Wearing said he had no objection to the proposed meeting, provided the district council officer had "an open mind on the matter".
Meanwhile, Grange councillors aim to look at every possibility to keep the toilets open, in preparation for the November discussion.
Council clerk Martin Grindell said after the meeting that he would be trying to arrange a meeting with Mrs Barton in the next two or three weeks.
