A FORMER national rally driver is seeking planning permission for a pedestrian underpass which would connect his home with its lakeside frontage.
West Cumbrian Malcolm Wilson, whose M-Sport Ltd business has the contract to run the Ford World Rally Team, has submitted the plan to the Lake District National Park Authority.
The 14-metre-long underpass would run under the A592 linking Beech Cottage, Storrs Park, with its Windermere lakeside frontage.
The structure would be 2.1 metres wide and a similar height and would have steps and a ramp at either end.
Planning officer for the authority David McGowan confirmed that the property was granted planning permission for an underpass in January 2000, but said this was a different scheme.
