A KENDAL man took on Japan's highest peak in one day to raise money for Mencap.
Richard Sutton raised £ 2,500 for the charity during his 11-hour trek, with 30 other fundraisers from around the country, over Mount Fugi at the end of August.
The learning support assistant, who teaches at Dallam School, said that although the weather held it proved to be a tough trek the over the12,000ft giant, with five days walking before he even reached the mountain.
Supported by his class back in Dallam Mr Sutton wore a Mencap t-shirt that his class had signed during his conquest as a trekking talisman.
Now home Mr Sutton is not winding down his fundraising efforts and is keen to hold slideshows to raise more cash for the charity.
