A record number of visitors has taken part in guided walks around the railway shanty town site by Ribblehead viaduct this summer.
Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line have reported that the walks, on Wednesdays between June and August, attracted 414 visitors on 27 tours.
Many of these walks, which started in 1994, combined a ride on the scenic railway with an exploration of the historical site.
