KENDAL secured their first points in National League Division 2 with a skilful and tenacious 32-28 victory on a 700-mile round trip to Launceston in Cornwall.
Tries from Mike Capstick, Jason Balmer, Mike Scott and Shaun Renwick set up the victory on Saturday after losses against Yorkshire clubs Wharfedale and Harrogate.
Storming back from a 7-0 deficit with two of their players off injured, Kendal went ahead with three first-half tries in a gripping end-to-end encounter.
Unfortunately, the Launceston full back had to be airlifted to hospital just before half time with what looked a bad neck injury but later proved to too be too serious.
It stretched the break to almost an hour and when play resumed Kendal stretched into a 22-10 lead early in the second half.
But the tussle for the points was not finished and the home team mounted a late two-try fightback to get back to within four points before the visitors held on for a well-deserved victory.
