A SERIES of free sports club workshops are to be held by South Lakeland District Council's Sport Development section this autumn.
The evening sessions during September and October are designed to give club members the latest information of funding opportunities, coach education courses, volunteer recruitment and club accreditation schemes.
All those attending will be able to discuss ideas for their own club with SLDC and Cumbria Sports staff.
Key topics to be discussed at each session, which will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, will be:
* Awards for All - grants programme supported by the National Lottery and Sport England for funding projects that provide opportunities for more people to take part in sport.
* How to boost your club funds by £100 through a volunteer recruitment programme for 16-24-year-olds.
*The Club Mark Scheme administered by Sport England which recognises safe child-friendly sports clubs.
*Child protection and police checking.
*Opportunities for children with disabilities.
The dates for the workshops are:
Wednesday, September 25 - the Lakes School, Windermere
Monday, 7 October - Ulverston Sports and Social Club, next to Ulverston Swimming Pool.
Wednesday, October 9 - Kendal Leisure Centre (Romney Room).
All sessions start at 6.30pm.
Club members interested in attending and requiring more information can contact Louise Airey, the Sports Development Officer on (01539) 733333.
