Such was the success of the two county show food halls that sold-out signs were popping up all over the place - Sarah Nelson's Grasmere Gingerbread went down a storm, as did Staff of Life bread - despite extra deliveries by baker Simon Thomas's father-in-law; and Roy Partington's white beef and middle white pigs, which are farmed in the Lyth Valley.
It was also nice to see show-goers cooling off with some home-grown refreshment.
There were huge queues throughout the day for Holme Farm, which makes dairy ice cream near Grange-over-Sands, and Cumbrian Maid, the low fat frozen yoghurt people from Lindal-in-Furness.
