- Plant daffodil bulbs in borders and rough grass areas; remember where you have planted them to save digging them up again later.
- Empty out hanging baskets and containers as they go over.
Plant with ivies, primulas and winter pansies.
- Raise the height of cut on the lawn mower, and cut less frequently as the cooler weather slows down growth.
Apply an autumn fertiliser, high in phosphorus and potassium but low in nitrogen, to encourage root-growth rather than shoot-growth.
