DOZENS of properties across Cumbria will receive a test flood warning from the Environment Agency next Tuesday to ensure that warning systems work correctly.

The agency will issue warnings to homes and businesses at risk from flooding through an automatic voice messaging (AVM) system in nine areas including Kendal, Appleby and the Eden Valley.

Des Cornwell, the agency's area Flood Warning Team Leader, said: "People can help us by acknowledging the message they receive by pressing digit one on their telephones."
