A GROUP of hydro-power experts from Sri Lanka learned first-hand about what the industry in Cumbria can offer during a trade mission to the county this week.
The group heard about the products and services of companies such as Kendal-based water turbine manufacturers Gilbert Gilkes and Gordon and visited hydro projects at Glenridding and Backbarrow.
They were also treated to a buffet dinner of Cumbrian produce hosted at Cowmire Hall in the Lyth Valley and were given a tour of Cowmire Hall Damson Gin distillery.
The two-day visit was organised through the DTI to encourage British companies to export their services and expertise by bringing potential customers to the UK.
