MORE than 100,000 people have flocked to get a glimpse of the family of ospreys which have been nesting in the Lake District for the last five months.
Since the pair of adult birds arrived at the nest overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake in April before going on to raise two young chicks, hundreds of people have visited the two public viewing points every day.
The two fledglings - the only osprey chicks to be reared in England this year - have now left the nest, so the camera overlooking their tree-top home, which has beamed live footage back to the Forestry Commission's Whinlatter
Visitor Centre, has now been switched off for the year.
