POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist fell from his bike on the A590.
PC Mike Lackey of Ulverston police said that 40-year-old Thomas Bennett, of Wigan, lost control and fell from his Honda motorbike after taking action to avoid a Ford Mondeo which was heading in the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist suffered cuts and bruises.
The accident happened at Ayside, at around 11.30am on Sunday (September 22).
Police are keen to trace the driver of the Mondeo, who failed to stop, and carried on driving along the A590 in the direction of Kendal.
PC Lackey said the Mondeo was overtaking a caravan when it caused the motorbiker to take action to avoid a collision.
He described the manoeuvre made by the Mondeo driver as "silly".
It is believed the car was M-registered, and was blue or silver coloured.
PC Lackey said that motorcyclist Mr Bennett was kept overnight at Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness.
Any witnesses who have not already contacted the police are asked to call PC Lackey on 01229-848586.
