A RALLYING call has gone out to South Lakeland sports and youth organizations after a meeting to discuss a Kendal athletics track was attended by only nine people.
Coun Simon Butterfield, who called the Sunday afternoon meeting in Kendal Town Hall, admitted he was "down-hearted" at the apparent lack of support.
But the meeting, to form the 'Kendal and District Sports and Athletics Association' to push through the project, would be re-convened on November 13, said Coun Butterfield.

A former coach with Kendal Athletic Club, Mike Miller, told the meeting he had become frustrated with the lack of training facilities in Kendal.
"It is 2002 and we are still training on grass.
Some Third World countries have more facilities than we do," he told the meeting.
Coun Butterfield said he would welcome calls for more information, or offers of help.
