The Archbishop of York David Hope is set to visit one of South Lakeland's most historic churches this weekend.
Hundreds of worshipers are expected to attend services at Cartmel Priory when Dr Hope preaches at the place of worship as part of a day-long celebration of the festival of St Michael - one of the patron saints of the priory.
Dr Hope will preach at both evensong at 3.30 pm and the morning service, at 10.45 am - which includes a dedication of the renewed Piper Choir stained glass window and a processional cross.
Evensong will be a team service including all parishes of the Cartmel Peninsula team Ministry and is likely to be attended by more than 250 worshipers.
At 12:00 there will be a parish buffet lunch at the back of the church.
Team Vicar at Cartmel Father Robert Bailey said: "This promises to be a memorable day in the life of the priory and an exciting one for the village of Cartmel."
