IN-FORM Ambleside Ladies recorded a second victory in the Cumbria League, beating Carlisle 2-1 at Queen Katherine School.
Determined Ambleside scored an early goal when Parnell' s pass found Amanda Faulkner who raced into the 'D' and fired home.
But it turned out to be a harder encounter than it first seemed, with Carlisle stubborn in defence and counter attacking.
Late on in the second half Ambleside thought they had sealed the victory when Amanda Faulkner slotted home from good work from Finley.
However, Carlisle did not give up and pulled one back before the final whistle blew.
Hollis made a welcome return to the team, having returned to live in the area.
Ambleside ran out 4-0 winners over Barrow in their opening match.
Lesley Gibson fired in at a penalty corner and Sue Conway hit a second shortly afterwards.
The second half saw more of the same before Conway scored her second goal of the game, a perfectly-executed corner.
Kendal Ladies dominated for a 3-1 victory over Kirkby Stephen in their latest Cumbria League match.
Unable to convert nine short corners in a goalless first half, Kendal finally broke the deadlock thanks to Dent's fine run and finish.
After having one disallowed, Baron added a second goal for Kendal from a short corner and then Whiteley made it 3-0 before Kirkby replied through Richardson's penalty flick.
Glaxo Ladies fought out a 1-1 draw with Keswick in their Cumbria League clash.
Glaxo opened the scoring through Dufy, who was denied again on numerous occasions.
A Keswick breakout led to confusion in the shooting circle and they equalised.
Glaxo opened with a 3-2 win at Carlisle.
Outstanding defence from keeper Rushton and Smyth was a key factor as Glaxo went 2-0 up through Potter and Kelley.
Carlisle pulled one back but Dufty restored Glaxo's two-goal lead with a reverse-stick finish and although Carlisle scored again, they hung on for the win.
