A FEATURE film about a family living in a Lake District community is to be set in Ambleside.

Starring David Thewlis, who starred with Brad Pitt in Seven Years in Tibet, Cheeky is about a family's foray into a television game show.

Action will begin in November and the film is scheduled for general release.

Home of the lead character is expected to be in Millans Park.

Last week residents received a letter from Shepperton Studios-based film company Cheeky Films Ltd, asking for comments on the choice of location.

Other scenes will be shot in town.

Location manager Ian Pollington said it would be announced which Millans Park house they proposed to use at a later date.

The plot involves a house fire, and the chosen property will be filmed before, during and after the blaze.

Some scenes are set in darkness.

Residents have been told filming will take place for around two days on about November 11, with crews and cast working up until midnight.

Residents have been told to contact Ian Pollington on 07850-804112 if they have any questions.
