A WELL-KNOWN wildlife artist lent his creative hand in helping to create a mural.
Roger McPhail, famous for creating the pheasant on the Grouse drink bottle, gave creative direction to the people of Arkholme in creating their Millennium mural.
The mural, which is made up of embroidery, sewing and painting, depicts life in the Lune Valley.
It includes the church, pub and old village hall in Arkholme and birds, sheep and wild flowers common to the area.
It was unveiled by Miss Margaret Bailey, 91, the oldest resident in Arkholme.
Mrs Farn, a member of the Gressingham and Arkholme WI where the idea originated in 1999, said: "The WI started off doing it and then everyone in the village was invited to join in and so it was a real community effort.
"The idea was that we wanted local people to celebrate the millennium and the Lune Valley."
The mural will reside at the new village hall in Arkholme.
