CRAVEN residents aged 65 and over are being encouraged to have a flu jab to help protect their health this winter.
Thousands more people of any age with medical conditions such as chronic heart or chest complaints, chronic kidney disease, diabetes and lowered immunity from disease or treatment such as steroid medication are also being asked to consider immunisation.
Craven, Harrogate and Rural District Primary Care Trust is keen to ensure that people who need a flu jab take up the service, which will be provided free through GP surgeries.
Anybody who is in doubt about whether they need protection is advised to call NHS Direct on 0845-4647 or talk to their pharmacist.
GP practices can also give advice.
