IF YOU fancy something tasty this weekend, grab yourself a piece of unadulterated seaside rock at the Sugar House Lancaster.
When Indie-infused rock group The Coral burst out of their coastal village home, the young musicians created a tidal wave of rave reviews in the music press and kicked up a storm at their live gigs.
The lads - all aged under 21 - formed The Coral when they met at their seaside hometown of Hoylake, Merseyside - 'a place where everyone knows everyone'.
With the spirit of the sea rushing through their veins the boys retired to a disused shelter by the sea to practise and smoke to their hearts content.
School friends James Skelly, guitar and vocals; Ian Skelly, drums and percussion; Nick Power, organ and vocals; Bill Ryder-Jones, guitar and trumpet; Lee Southall, guitar/vocals; Paul Duffy, bass and sax; were inspired by a kaleidoscope of sounds from Marley to the Beach Boys and The Doors.
With their unlikely rock pedigree the school friends graduated from Oasis covers to knocking out demos and working part-time to cover the costs of their endeavours.
Six years later the mates from Hillbury High School have just tucked an NME tour under their belts and are performing at the Sugar House on Sunday, October 6.
Tickets are priced at £8 and are available from the LUSU shop at the university, Reds caf bar in Lancaster.
