RUNNING with both arms in plaster, last years winner, Steve Murdock from Border Harriers, still managed to still take second place in this year's Cautley ten-mile road race.
Improving on his last year's time he was narrowly beaten over the undulating course that runs out from Sedbergh to Cautley Spout and back, by Paul Muller, from Horwich in 54-45.
Muller's time was two minutes faster than Murdock's winning time last year.
The field of 70 runners had increased two fold on last year, the first year of the races reincarnation.
