RUSH hour traffic ground to a halt in Kendal town centre yesterday (Thursday) following a Wednesday night power cut.
Traffic lights failed after an overhead line caused a power failure in the Blackhall Road area of town and electricity bosses have apologised for any inconvenience.
Around 800 homes were also blacked out and it took engineers three hours to restore power.
Most customers were back on by 11pm, said a spokeswoman for United Utilities.
The cause of the fault is still being investigated.
