A SCHEME designed to reduce the occurrence of untreated sewage overflowing into the Duddon Estuary has been given the go-ahead by planners.
Members of Cumbria County Council's development control and regulation committee agreed to the construction of two above ground tanks, associated equipment, fencing and landscaping at the Askam Wastewater Treatment Works at Askam-in-Furness, together with a new access road and two chambers on land next to Duddon Sports and Social Club, off James Street in Askam.
The plan, by United Utilities, will be subject to conditions.
