AN INTERNATIONAL child-porn probe has lead to three arrests, including some in Morecambe.
Police executed three warrants on the Fylde Coast and locally early last Thursday morning.
They follow an FBI investigation into illegal websites in the USA.
Computer equipment has been seized from three homes and searches also took place.
Det Supt Mick Turner said: "The force received a number of names and other information following an enquiry in America into child pornography on the internet.
"For some time now our intelligence officers have been working thoroughly and systematically to link those details to specific people.
"These extensive enquiries are necessary to avoid making mistakes in identity and to provide enough information for the police to take any action.
This has inevitably taken time to progress.
"Those individuals have then had to be prioritised, where possible looking first at those who are in positions of trust or whose work brings them into contact with children, no matter who their employer.
"However, the details provided to us by our colleagues in America is not our only source of intelligence and this enquiry will investigate other information relating to the use of child pornography on the internet in Lancashire.
"I would not wish to prejudice the outcome of the continuing enquiries being made in Lancashire and endanger the likelihood of successful prosecutions by revealing the precise scale and occasions of further people under active investigation as part of this operation."
Police say they will not comment further until their inquiries progress.
