Parish councillors have welcomed plans for Cumbria County Council to take a more realistic approach to a bus service from Windermere to Kendal.
A letter to Windermere Parish Council explained that, as part of a review of services, the county council was proposing to make some alterations to the 541 service.
One of the main changes is to withdraw the 1pm Windermere town service, which has often had to be dropped due to traffic congestion in Kendal or Bowness to ensure the driver had a full 30-minute break.
Coun Helen Jones said it would be better for passengers to know definitely whether the lunchtime service was running or not, and it was preferable that the service was reduced rather than stopped altogether.
The council decided to write back to say it welcomed the more realistic timetable.
