Small businesses in the area are being encouraged to tap into a pot of money set up to create and safeguard local jobs.
Eight local businesses are the latest to benefit from the economic initiatives fund, run by Cumbria County Council's South Lakeland Local Committee, after receiving grants ranging from £423 to £1,500.
The fund was set up two years ago to support small businesses employing less than five people with innovative ideas in the area as well as to help individuals enter the jobs market.
Local committee chairman Coun Anne Parker, who encouraged others to apply for support, said: "I am delighted to be able to make these awards and to boost local businesses."
Among those to receive grants were Kendal Events Association (£1,000); White Cross Bay Watersports Centre (£1,000); B&J Metals (£785); and Lakeland Activity Toys Leisure Hire (£423).
To access grants of up to £1,000 to help fund business projects, contact the area support team on 01539-773180 for information and an application pack.
