GARRY THOMPSON, the Kendal-born Morecambe FC forward, is hoping to start the New Year by making the team to face Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the FA Cup tomorrow.
More than 1,000 supporters are expected to make the five-hour journey to East Anglia to see the Shrimps take on the famous club.
First Division Ipswich, former league champions, FA Cup winners and conquerors of Europe in the UEFA cup are managed by Joe Royle, who took Everton to cup glory in 1995.
Morecambe go into the game enjoying a good run of league form. Before a narrow defeat at Halifax on Saturday, Jim Harvey's side had notched up two straight victories, as well as impressive cup form.
On offer to the winner is a £50,000 cash incentive, as well as the chance to draw another big club in the fourth round.
Fans who are considering making the trip still have time to make their arrangements. Returned tickets will be available from Ipswich Town FC or on the gate on Saturday.
Tickets are priced at £18 for adults, £10 for concessions and £2 for children.
A week tomorrow January 11, sees Morecambe make the much shorter trip to Lancaster City for the first Lune derby in six years, in the third-round of the FA Trophy.
