A 68-BED nursing home is being planned for a site on Kendal's Heron Hill estate. Thermabuild Construction, based in Ripon, has submitted a planning application to South Lakeland District Council on behalf of Wallgrove Ltd. The company envisages a two-storey building with rendered walls and a tiled roof on land to the east of Heron Public House, on Valley Drive. SLDC planning officer Helen Signol said the site was designated for "community use" in the 1980s, which would encompass use as a nursing home. The area is owned by Kendal house builders Russell Armer and has a valid planning consent for a children's nursery secured last June. However, the nursery plan has not gone ahead. No-one at Thermabuild Construction, Wallgrove Ltd or Russell Armer was available to comment.
