A FAMILY-run independent school in South Lakeland has cause for celebration after receiving "a fantastic" Ofsted report as it starts its golden jubilee year.
Holme Park School in New Hutton, Kendal, has been commended by the Department of Education and Skills for its "strong commitment to the welfare of pupils" whose attainment was found to be "often above average" and behaviour "very good".
A report, following an inspector's visit to the school last November, found a positive rapport between pupils and teachers, enthusiasm to learning while the teaching was good.
Vivienne Curry, director of Holme Park School, which was established in 1953, said: "This is a fantastic report from the department we're all very pleased. My family and the staff who work here have always known what a difference this school makes to the lives of the children who come here it is gratifying to have it recognised officially.
"We will be celebrating our Golden Jubilee this summer with a party this report is the icing on the cake."
