APPLEBY dented Coniston's title aspirations with a 2-1 away victory at the leaders as snow and frost wiped out the majority of Saturday's fixtures in the Talbot Insurance Westmorland League.
A Paul Kinnear strike in the second half sealed three points for Appleby, who occupy a lowly position in the league mainly because they have played fewer fixtures than anyone else.
Coniston had taken an early lead through David Cooper only for the visitors to draw level soon afterwards from a defensive mishap which led to a deflection into the home net.
Keswick started at home to Lunesdale United, but the match had to be abandoned in the freezing conditions.
Dent's marksmen kept warm in Division 2, hammering in nine goals at Grasmere, who scored twice in reply.
