THE DEVELOPMENT of a £4 million business complex in Penrith which is likely to create more than 170 jobs and safeguard 200 others has moved a step closer. Members of Eden District Council's community and economy committee agreed to press forward the first of two phases in the creation of Eden Business Park, a project which will extend the Gilwilly industrial estate. More than a quarter of the total cost will be met through the sale of 13 acres of land on the estate to two local businesses, Some 410 jobs would be relocated to the newly-created park as a result, with 180 positions safeguarded because of the move. It is believed that 135 jobs will be created in the first year and a further 40 over the next five years.
