LANDOWNERS, walkers and interested parties will have the opportunity to view and comment on draft maps that could open up new areas of Lake District land to the public at an Access To Open Countryside roadshow, in Ambleside Saturday. The maps, which were released to the public in mid-December as part of a three-month public consultation process, highlight areas of mountain, moor, heath and downland which could open up as part of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The roadshow takes place at St Martin's College, Ambleside, from 10am-4pm, with a public presentation at 1.15pm. Representatives from the Countryside Agency will be present and there will be opportunities to lodge written comments. For information on the maps call 0845-100-3298.
