SIR, Thought I'd take the opportunity to write a quick note of praise for the service my wife and I received after using the rail network over Christmas.
We undertook four journeys over the festive period - a return from Kendal to Chester via the West Coast line and Crewe, and a return from Garsdale to Sheffield via the Carlisle-Settle line and Leeds.
In total we travelled on nine separate trains - none of which were late. All the staff were courteous and helpful and the combined price for all the journeys was an amazing £36 for the pair of us (admitedly we booked in advance and my wife holds a young person's railcard).
I have complained in the past and, therefore, felt that I should express my satisfaction with equal measure. Well done to Virgin Trains, First NorthWestern and Arriva.
