RESIDENTS need to rethink their rubbish in the New Year, according to Lancashire waste managers.
Each year every household in Lancashire produces around one tonne of waste the equivalent weight to a new mini.
But in 2003 Lancashire County Council's waste minimisation team is keen to start as they mean to go on.
In a bid to spur householders into action they have issued some tips for tackling the Christmas rubbish mountain including:
Save Christmas cards, recycle them or use as gift tags.
Compost Christmas trees.
Pass unwanted clothes, toys and presents on to charity shops and friends.
