HOOKER Dan Newsome, from Staveley, and second row Matt Higham, from Crook, are in the Lancaster Royal Grammar School squad to play St Bees for a place in the quarter-finals of the Daily Mail' English Schools Rugby Knockout.
If successful, Lancaster Royal will be two matches away from a final appearance at Twickenham.
Four of the squad trained with Sale Jets over Christmas, for whom former RLGS pupil Magnus Lund, from Staveley, is an established player.
The cross-county match against St Bees takes place at LRGS's Memorial Fields pitches on Derwent Road on
Friday, January 24 (2pm kick-off).
