FIRE chiefs are calling for vigilance during the next one-day fire strike scheduled to start at 9am next Tuesday. Green Goddesses will be back on the streets during the 24-hour strike, which will see the military man five temporary fire stations at Kendal, Barrow, Carlisle, Whitehaven and Workington. The Fire Brigades Union remains locked in a dispute with employers over conditions attached to proposed pay increases.
