Women of all ages do it, your girlfriend, your sister, even your mum, now you men are being pushed to do it get rid of the greys!

L'Oreal's Dia colour Homme' is the new way to cover 50 per cent grey in a flash, no mess, and what's more the end results look incredibly natural.

The colour is brushed through to match your natural hair colour whether it's blonde, brown or black wait 15 minutes and hey presto your hair is left in beautiful, shiny, soft condition leaving you with your natural high and low-light tones, no flat-dyed appearance. You can't tell that it's been dyed, simply that it looks alive, healthy and years fresher - none of the solid hair dye look men used to get that gave the game away and made them look like they were wearing a toupee.

Claire Wilson, long-term veteran of hair-care at Daniel Grey Hair Salon, in Kendal, should know all about what's in and out for guys this year - she has just been on yet another course with L'Oreal keeping her at the forefront of fashion.

"Hair has begun to get choppy again, with haircuts reminding me of the punk looks we saw in the 80s. A lot of the guys in the media are wearing their hair high with an unstructured cut - think Will Young. Or lopsided, longer, with choppy layers - think Vernon Kay. The lopsided Mohican is back unisex. Fringes can be worn to suit your face shape at last as we have a choice - heavy over the eyes, lopsided or really cut into, short.

"For the younger guys colour looks incredible when it's boldly sliced into the hair or, if the hair's worn choppy, with the ends coloured, contrasting the rest (again this is great for the girls too, makes finer hair look thicker!).

"It's great to see that men are taking much more care with their appearance these days. They seem far more comfortable here in the salon among the girls. I've seen a big change in that guys in their late 20s and 30s are asking for more individual hair cuts, something a bit different, more up-to-date that brings out the best in them rather than a convenient short back and sides. They'll sit and browse the latest magazines for men and enjoy checking out the latest fashions. Once a man has seen how good he can look he becomes a regular at the salon, guys are really faithful to their stylist."
