A LANCASTER man who caused what a judge described as appalling' injuries to two others has been jailed for five years.

Ian Barton was said to have jumped on the heads of his victims, causing one of them to lose several teeth.

Sending the 28-year-old to jail, Judge Edward Slinger told Preston Crown Court: "People who go out and are behaving perfectly peaceably are entitled to be protected by the law."

Barton, of Mount Avenue, Lancaster, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and also wounding with intent.

The prosecution followed a violent incident in January last year near the Crown Hotel on Marine Road, Morecambe.

Barton was described as having caused two men serious injury by jumping on their heads while they were on the floor.

It followed a scene earlier that night involving a friend of Barton. But that was over long before he went out looking for revenge', it was said..

Defence barrister Mr Patrick Thompson said it wasn't a case of there being premeditated violence but Barton had lost his temper.

"His friend had been humiliated by others in a pub. That led him into this behaviour," he said.

"He has been shocked and horrified to think what he has been capable of."

The judge told Barton: "These are appalling injuries and you know that only a long custodial sentence is appropriate."
