- Start Begonia tubers into growth by putting them into trays or boxes of moist compost; water sparingly until they begin to sprout.
- Cut down canes of autumn fruiting raspberries to within six inches of the ground.
- As the ground becomes drier and more workable, plant out onion sets and shallots in the vegetable patch.
